Optical Engines

Optical Engines

Also known as modules

The key to unlock AR eyewear

Image forming elements

The optical engine – waveguides and projectors – is the key to enabling successful AR smartglasses and headsets. It is the biggest driver of the industrial design and power consumption for highly immersive devices.

Ideal for product evaluation and development

Optical engines principally consider of a projector coupled to a diffractive waveguide combiner. This is based on our core technology which we variously refer to as the waveguide or waveguide stack.

Optical engines are available with differing field of views and in monocular or binocular configurations.

We also offer our optical engines with driver electronics, so that you can test and evaluate our standard offering. Demo content via an APK is also available. If electronics are required, we provide: interface puck with USB-C connection, access to demo content via APKs, associated software, tools and support

Our Optical Engine models

We recommend customers procure an optical engine rather than discrete components in order to achieve highest efficiency and the superior optical performance which WaveOptics is known for. We have a number of module options available, 3 of which are listed below for you to explore.
