3 Reasons to join WaveOptics in 2022

This month we look ahead to what 2022 has in store for WaveOptics. A principal focus will be hiring the best talent on the market to join our team of experts. We spoke to Mary who manages talent acquisition at WaveOptics:

Why join WaveOptics?

“There are many reasons why joining our team is a good idea. The key three are: you will be at the forefront of pioneering augmented reality technology for consumer AR smart glasses; you will get a front row seat at a centre of innovation; we have the resources to make it happen!

“In May 2021 we joined the Snap Inc family. Snap Inc. is a camera company. “We believe that reinventing the camera represents our greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate.” Snap are investing in our people as well as the technology and their values of kind, smart, creative are embedded throughout the company.

“At WaveOptics, our mission is to change how you see the world, by designing the world’s best optical engines for AR eyewear to provide to Snap and the broader market. We are driving forward new technology across diffractive waveguides and projectors which we combine into optical engines (also known as modules.)

The journey from Academia to Industry

“We are a team of problem-solvers, who relish technical challenges. We welcome those from academia: 70% join straight from PhD from where they have the chance to move from theory to working collaboratively towards developing a consumer product. Curiosity and collaboration are essential in our environment of constant learning, working across multiple projects at once.

“Our HR team are aware of the time it can take to build up knowledge in our technology so we have a close knit team who are able to show you the ropes and highlight how your skills map across to your new role.

“Developing the next generation computing platform is an exciting opportunity. In 2021 Snap launched Spectacles which embodies our waveguide component into the first working AR smart glass. WaveOptics demonstrated our best-in-class capability which we are enhancing in 2022 by moving from a component supplier to integrated optical engine solutions provider.

“Feel free to get in touch with me on LinkedIn. I am always happy to have a conversation about WaveOptics and open roles. There is no hard sell – we feel that people will make the decision that will suit you best!
